Powhatan Lakes is part of Powhatan's 4462-acre Wildlife Management Area. After a breach in the dam some years ago due to a severe storm event, Powhatan Lakes is open to the public once again. Over the coming years, the 66-acre lakes will be stocked with bluegills, redear sunfish, and F1 hybrid largemouth. Until the lakes are fully repopulated, only catch and release will be allowed. The new construction includes two new fishing piers and the improvement of two boat launch facilities.
