One-room cabin built by the CCC in 1936. Located in the southern section of Shenandoah National Park, on Skyline Drive 15.4 miles south of Swift Run Cap Gap just beyond milepost 81. From its elevation of about 2800 feet at the head of Doyles River, the cabin looks southeastward down a picturesque valley and across to Cedar Mountain and Via Gap. The steep drop in front of the cabin may be dangerous for young children.
No more than 12 persons may use the cabin and surrounding area overnight. Cabin has 2 double-width, double-decked bunks and 2 single-width, double-decked bunks. Inside woodstove and outside fireplace on porch under the eaves. A reliable spring is 110 yd. downhill from the cabin, on the Doyles River Trail. Bring your own light sources such as flashlights, candles, and lanterns powered by batteries or propane gas. Upon leaving, do not leave ANY fuel at the cabin. Hike in from parking area 0.4 miles downhill, cross the AT about 90 ft from parking area. A pit toilet outside is for human waste only. Toilet paper is not provided.
