Host/Owner: Jim and Janet Stern. Inn History: Listed on the National Register of Historic Places and as a Virginia historic landmark, the Inn at the Crossroads is surrounded by hundreds of open acres in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, yet is only 10 minutes from UVA, and 15 minutes from Monticello and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Built by Thomas Jefferson's nephew in 1820 to serve those traveling between the Shenandoah Valley and the barge port at Scottsville. It is a charming four story brick building with timber framing and a long front porch. Its simple Federal style is typical of the public houses of that period. Once inside, guests are treated to a colonial atmosphere reminiscent of a bygone era. A separate cottage, built in 1824, is available for families or those looking for a romantic hideaway.
