James River State Park has more than 1,500 acres of rolling meadows and three miles of river frontage. Facilities include cabins and lodges, and many camping options, including equestrian camping. Thirteen primitive campsites are by the river and offer opportunities to canoe-in camp. There are 15 miles of trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding.
The park has 13 two-bedroom cabins, two three-bedroom cabins and two six-bedroom lodges. All have heat pumps and decks. Boat launching is free for overnight guests, but there are no designated swimming areas. From Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, cabins are rented by the week. Otherwise, a two-night minimum stay is required. Maximum occupancy varies so please call the park for details.
