"The Town of Bedford Electric Department" circa 1880, now called "The Electric Company", was the start of electric service for the Town of Bedford. The building has been renovated with an exhibit of original artwork from local artists, and is the home of the Artisan Shoppe, where you can purchase handmade jewelry, scarves, lotion candles, children's books and other eclectic items.
The building is largely used for the arts. There is a three-room gallery with 2-D and 3-D works from local artists, and many unusual crafts. Studio space is currently being rented to half a dozen local artists where you may observe them in their creative element. The Electric Company Artists' Co-op, a gallery owned and operated by artists from around the region, makes it's home here, along with Hearthside Quilts which makes pre-cut quilt kits.
You can start the walk of historic downtown here with free parking. Set in the heart of the Art and Antique District, voted the best small business in Bedford by the Chamber of Commerce.
