Kick off your art immersion weekend by taking a picture at the Reel LOVE art sculpture. The sculpture is Culpeper's first permanent art installation, located in the historic downtown district directly across from the train depot and visitor's center.
During your visit reserve your FREE tickets to watch a classic movie or television series at the Library of Congress' – Packard Campus theatre on Mt. Pony. Set on a beautiful 45 acre campus with stunning architectural design and landscaping, the Packard Campus of the National Audio-Visual Conservation Center is a state-of-the-art facility where the Library of Congress acquires, preserves and provides access to the world's largest and most comprehensive collection of films, television programs, radio broadcasts, and sound recordings. Although the facility is not open to the general public for tours, visitors can enjoy weekly movies on Mt. Pony when the Packard Campus hosts a regular series of film and television programming in its 204 seat theater.
If a LIVE performance is more to your viewing preference, purchase tickets for a show at the newly renovated and revitalized State Theatre. The theatre offers state-of-the-art entertainment to include national touring artists and musicians (country, bluegrass, folk, rock, pop, gospel, Latin, big band, classical) as well as local and regional Talent (theatre, dance, musical concerts). The theatre will also partner with the Library of Congress Packard Campus for Audio-Visual Conservation to develop film festivals and show classic films in 35mm. The theatre's beautifully restored art deco marquee lights up Main Street and casts a shining light on the renaissance of Culpeper and the region.
Just around the corner or across the street from the State Theatre you will find a vast choice of meal options from slow smoked BBQ, European cuisine, Asian delicacies or a simple dinner of burgers and hand cut fries at the 50's inspired diner. Lodging for the evening can be found downtown at a cozy B&B or a luxurious upscale Inn or Suite. Locally owned hotels are just minutes from the downtown area and provide an economical choice.
Wake up and start your day with pancakes and home fries at one of the local diners or a cup of coffee and croissant at the coffeehouse on the corner.
Continue your arts and culture weekend by taking part in the Culpeper Downtown Sunday Art Walk. Stroll through shops and galleries displaying, selling, and sometimes hosting artists in their process. All participating locations are open (at least) from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm and include shops, boutiques, and artist's dens that are destinations unto themselves.
Culpeper is for ART lovers!
