Take a culinary journey through history as you travel through Prince William and Manassas- a must-visit destination for foodies and anyone looking to ignite their culinary senses.
Day One: Sip, swirl and savor locally produced Virginia wines at The Winery at La Grange. Nestled at the foothills of the Bull Run Mountains, the winery offers stunning views and tastings in a haunted 18th-century manor house. The winery produces everything from Viognier and Norton to Cabernet Franc, Tannat and Merlot. After a relaxing day at the winery, take the picturesque drive through the rolling countryside to historic Old Town Manassas. Arrive in time to stop at Opera House Gourmet for wine samples and to purchase specialty cheeses, chocolates and other food items. For dinner, take a culinary journey around the world by creating a dine-around in Old Town. Start with tapas at City Square Café then go Italian at Monza, which bakes its pizza in an imported Italian oven. Finish with drinks, live music and a taste of Lousiana at Okra’s Cajun Creole.
Day Two: Discover Historic Occoquan- a quaint town nestled along the shores of the Occoquan River. Start at Ye Olde Dominion Wine Shoppe, which hosts free wine tastings daily and special tastings on Saturday that include a visit from a Virginia winery. The store features wines from more than 60 Virginia wineries as well as beer, chocolate and gourmet food. Hop next door to Tastefully Yours, which offers beer and wine tastings on weekends. After your tastings, board a Miss Rivershore Charters boat for a leisurely cruise down the water. Enjoy a lively history lesson from the captain and area wildlife as you sip wine. Finish with dinner and drinks at Cock & Bowl. Tucked away on one of the alleys in Occoquan, the restaurant mimics a European bistro with Belgian beer, frites and seafood. The restaurant features 50 different Belgian brews that are each served in a specially designed glass.
