Visiting the capital region can mean seeing high rises, lines of traffic, and concrete as far as the eye can see. But we’ll let you in on a little secret… perhaps the most beautiful scenic drive in Virginia is available to those who know where to find it. The George Washington Memorial Parkway, or the “Road to Adventure”, was originally designed as a grand gateway and greenway to the Nation’s Capital and also a dedication to George Washington (a Fairfax County native). Its lush and scenic surroundings offer historic and recreational opportunities to over 9 million people a year who visit the multitude of attractions and parks located between Great Falls National Park to the north, and George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate & Gardens to the south. So don't forget to bring your camera and your adventurous spirit. It's well worth it!
