Fredericksburg Student Tour - Civil War

Retrace the history of the Civil War at four area battlefields: Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, the Wilderness and Spotsylvania Court House.  To see all four battlefields requires a full day or more.   Step-on guide service is suggested for an additional fee.

Tour includes:

Fredericksburg Battlefield Visitor Center including the Sunken Road and the Kirkland Monument.   A visitor center at this location offers a 20-minute orientation video, exhibits, and ranger-led walking tours.

Chatham Manor served as Union headquarters during the Civil War.  It's location, across the Rappahannock River from Fredericksburg, provides the same view of the City that Union troops saw.

Chancellorsville Battlefied Visitor Center is located at the site of the accidental wounding of "Stonewall" Jackson.  An orientation video and exhibits are also available.

As time permits students may tour the Wilderness Battlefield where Grant and Lee first met and Spotsylvania Court House where fighting lasted for two weeks, incurring 30,000 casualties. Also see "Bloody Angle" where soldiers engaged in hand-to-hand combat for 20 hours.
