Student groups age six through high school can, with advance notice, enjoy customized tours at Fredericksburg's historic sites. Hands-on and interactive programs are available at: Hugh Mercer Apothecary Shop which presents a vivid interpretation of 18th and 19th century medicines and surgical procedures, including live leeches. Rising Sun Tavern presents a lively interpretation from the tavern wench, an indentured servant. Kenmore programs: Kenmore: Past and Present or Plantation Life.   Ferry Farm programs: George Washington: The Father of Our Country,  American Indians or Passage to the Past.   For more info on Kenmore's and Ferry Farm's programs go to www.kenmore.org.

For an in-depth look at our Colonial History choose from one of the following study trips:  George Washington Boy to Legend or Fredericksburg's Founding Fathers.  Complimentary lesson plans are offered for each of the sites visited.  Post-visit materials are also offered to reinforce learning.  Trained guides will accompany students on their visit.  Using maps and inquiry techniques, the guides will engage the students in meaningful dialog.
