Day 1: In Floyd, check in early and start your day with a good meal from Café Del Sol or Blue Ridge Restaurant. After breakfast head out to Buffalo Mountain and experience one of Virginia’s best kept secrets. Buffalo Mountain is one of the most significant natural areas in Virginia. It boasts an amazing 13 rare plant occurrences, 3 rare animal occurrences, and 6 significant natural communities. The combination of high-elevation (3,971 feet), wind-exposed openings at the summit, and magnesium rich soils make it unlike any place else in the Commonwealth. After hiking the Buffalo, head back into Floyd to see all this spectacular small town has to offer. Check out all the local shops and end your evening with dinner at Oddfella’s Cantina, The Pine Tavern, or Blue Ridge Restaurant.
Day 2: TRAVEL THE BLUE RIDGE WINE TRAIL!!! Start your day by eating at one of Floyd’s great coffee shops or get a hardy country breakfast at Blue Ridge Restaurant. After breakfast set out on a wine adventure and follow the Blue Ridge Wine Trail. This trail includes Chateau Morrisette Winery, Villa Appalacchia Winery, Foggy Ridge Cider, AmRhein Winery, and Blacksnake Meadery. Have lunch at Chateau Morrisette on the Blue Ridge Parkway and experience dining heaven.
Day 3: Local Art, need we say more about Floyd, Virginia. With the newly developed Floyd County Artisan Trail in conjunction with Round the Mountain, it’s easy to wander around Floyd back roads and find artisans lingering everywhere. Stop by The Jacksonville Center to find out more about the area’s art with many unique exhibits and classes you’ll be spellbound by the time you leave. If you’d rather spend your day observing Floyd’s music scene then must stops are The Floyd Country Store and County Sales which are two stops on The Crooked Road.
