Visit the Tobacco Farm Life Museum of Virginia and get a feel of what farm life in Mecklenburg County was really like somewhere around 1935-1950.

The Colonial Theatre-South Hill, VA

The Colonial Theatre is one of the few remaining vaudeville theatres of its era in Virginia.  It was originally constructed in 1925 to house live entertainment, vaudeville, and musical productions.  In later years, it was a theatre for silent movies and major modern motion pictures.  The Colonial Theatre closed in the 1970s but went through major renovations and reopened in January, 2011.

Rosemont Vineyard & Winery-La Crosse, VA

At Rosemont Winery you will find a beautiful early American Style building with a state of the art underground production facility.  It is the perfect location for a relaxing afternoon enjoying Virginia wine or for your own special occasion.  During your visit, you can taste a wide variety of wines and tour the production area a barrel room.

Horseshoe Restaurant-South Hill, VA

The Horseshoe Restaurant, established in the 1930s, has been serving great food to travelers and locals for over 80 years.  Situated on Historic Route 1, in downtown South Hill, this local diner serves up breakfast, lunch and dinner, and has unique menu choices with locally sourced and homemade foods.  The infamous gangster, Roy Kelly, was arrested after a nationwide manhunt on New Years Eve 1938 while enjoying a sandwich at the Horseshoe shaped counter.

The Boyd Tavern-Boydton, VA

The original Boyd Tavern was constructed in 1790 and consisted of a small one-story dwelling and tavern.  It has seen many changes over the years, including expansions and renovations, meeting the varied needs of the surrounding community.  In 1976, The Boyd Tavern was placed on the Virginia landmark register and the national register of historic places.

Old Tobacco Barns-South Hill, VA

Only a few of these old tobacco barns are still standing, having been replaced by more modern bulk barns.  They are truly hidden treasures.

Unique barn of Southern Virginia-Boydton, VA

Just off of Highway 58, this old barn is an example of many of Southern Virginia's unique family barns.
