Taste the fruits of the vine with a Wine and 'Shine tour!
Focus on the fruits of the vine with a visit to Old House Vineyards, Gray Ghost Vineyards and nearby Prince Michel Vineyard. Enjoy wonderful scenery, taste delicious vintages, and learn about the making of these award-winning wines.
When heading out to the vineyards, pick up lunch at one of the local deli's or wine and cheese shops found in downtown Culpeper.
Make sure to reserve a table and a room in one of the many local restaurants, B&B's, Inn's or hotels so you can rest up for day two of your Wine & 'Shine tour. You may even find a bottle of one of the wines you tasted on the day's wine tasting tour at your restaurant of choice.
Start your day by having breakfast at a local 50's inspired diner or by grabbing a cup of coffee and a croissant at the local coffeehouse on the corner.
Day Two's tour of Stillhouse Distillery at Belmont Farm is a must see stop for a true "spirits" connoisseur and reveals that corn is not just for barbecues. Stillhouse Distillery at Belmont Farm grows corn, harvests corn, stores corn, and grinds corn to legally produce, in a giant prohibition era copper still whiskey pot, the once elusive drink known as MOONSHINE. Tours of the distillery are offered daily during the distillery's months of operation, April through November, and if you're in luck you may find your personal tour guide to be the man himself, famous Moonshiner and Master Distiller, Chuck Miller. Chuck has been seen on the National Geographic and History Channels' and Discovery TV's hit show, Moonshiners. Meeting Chuck in person and getting the fourth generation Moonshine story is a one of a kind entertaining experience and a story you will share with friends over and over, preferably over a glass of 'shine.
Of course, no winery or distillery tour would be complete without a visit to the gift shop for a bottle of wine or "Virginia Lightning" and some souvenir glasses to take home!
