Richmond Jazz Society, Inc. (RJS), is a non profit, tax-exempt organization of musicians and music lovers which, since 1979, has served Virginia in the education, preservation, and advancement of Jazz as an American art form. THE GUEST EDUCATORS SERIES-Initiated in 1980, these monthly lectures and demonstrations, featuring local, regional and national artists and educators, are geared towards helping the public understand the many facets of Jazz and how this unique music is created. The series provides the education of the community about Jazz styles, performance techniques, historical development and current trends. CONCERTS - Each year RJS offers special concerts to the community featuring new and emerging artists or veteran artists of national reputation. All styles of Jazz are highlighted from traditional to the adventurous.
