Chief Powhatan's son, Powhatan, was the man in charge at the Falls when Captain Christopher Newport arrived in 1607 to claim the land for King James I of England. With your costumed guide, learn about the English's failed settlements at "the Falls," the development of trading posts along the river, and the bloody clashes that marked the seventeenth-century landscape.
