John Smith was the first tourist to the shores of the Northern Neck in 1607. Representing five historic counties and the businesses of the Northern Neck, including King George, Westmoreland, Richmond, Lancaster, and Northumberland Counties, the Northern Neck Tourism Commission promotes the sites and attractions of this beautiful historic region. Twenty-one sites are on the Coastal birding trail located in the Northern Neck. If hiking the vine is more to your taste, visit the Chesapeake Bay Wine Trail. The region abounds in nature, waterfront recreation, historic villages and towns, antiques, classic B&Bs, local seafood (OYSTERS!), great golf, boutique shopping, and friendly folks.
