This is a state-certified visitor center. We offer information on Smith Mountain Lake and surrounding areas. We are closed only on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Days. Created by a hydroelectric dam on the Roanoke and Blackwater rivers, this 20,000-acre lake with 500 miles of shoreline is one of the largest manmade lakes in the state and is nationally recognized for its bass fishing. The Visitor Center offers information on boating, fishing, hiking, nature trails, horseback riding, picnicking, camping, lodging, championship golf, water sports and more.
