    Coastal Virginia - Eastern Shore

    Cape Charles - Oct. 10-12 - Eastern Shore of Virginia Birding and Wildlife Festival - As one of the most important migration stop-overs on the East Coast, millions of songbirds and butterflies and thousands of raptors will converge here on their long journey south. With the Eastern Shore of Virginia National Wildlife Refuge and Kiptopeke State Park nearby, this is a migration celebration you'll always remember.

    Chincoteague Island - Oct. 11 - Chincoteague Island Oyster Festival - The Chincoteague Island Oyster Festival is considered by many to be the best party of the year on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

    Onancock - Oct. 25 - Between the Waters Bike Tour - Start and finish in the beautiful seaside town of Onancock. With very little vehicle traffic, the ride is sure to be relaxed and peaceful as well as easygoing because of the flat terrain.



    Blue Ridge Highlands

    Floyd - Oct. 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 - Friday Fest Artisan Market - Join us this season at Friday Fest! Fun times for the whole family! Hand-crafted wares like pottery, woodwork, lamps, bird-feeders, body products, paintings, jewelry, locally-published books, and much more!

    Dugspur - Oct. 4 - Foggy Ridge Cider Apple Harvest Celebration - Apple Harvest Celebration at Foggy Ride Cider Taste the fruits—and beverage—of the season as Foggy Ridge Cider celebrates the Apple. Bring your own “mystery apples” for expert identification.

    Moneta - Oct. 4 - Bridgewater Plaza Fall Festival - Shop all your favorite stores, as well as local craft vendors, and dine at your favorite restaurants. Also enjoy demonstrations, children's activities, live entertainment on Mango's stage, featuring DJ music and musical performances, and more.

    Blacksburg - Oct. 11 - Hokie BugFest - The Hokie BugFest showcases the wonders of entomology. Live arthropod displays, games, crafts, and exhibits are featured. Themes of science and discovery are interwoven into all activities.

    Blacksburg - Oct. 25 - Blacksburg Brew Do - A plethora of craft beer will be available from at least 40 local, Mid-Atlantic, and national craft- and micro-breweries. Attendees will savor culinary delights from local restaurants and enjoy home brewing demonstrations, live music, tailgating fun, and the culmination of the 6th annual Brew Do Homebrew Competition.

    Ferrum - Oct. 25 - Blue Ridge Folklife Festival - The Blue Ridge Folklife Festival celebrates the traditional crafts, music, foods, storytelling, horse handling skills, dog training skills, and moonshine folklore of rural Virginia.



    Northern Virginia

    Mount Vernon - Oct. 3-5 - Fall Wine Festival & Sunset Tour at Mount Vernon - Celebrate the history of wine in Virginia at George Washington's Mount Vernon!

    Manassas - Oct. 4 - Fall Jubilee - Come join us at the 31st Annual Fall Jubilee for crafts, entertainment, wine garden and much more!

    Culpeper - Oct. 4-5 - Culpeper Harvest Days Farm Tour - Llamas, horses, dairy cattle! The romance of cut flowers and fine Virginia wine. Everything from buffalo to beef cows, from mushrooms to moonshine and everything in between, there’s something to delight everyone!

    Delaplane - Oct. 4-5, 11-12, 18-19, 25-26 - Fall Farm Festival, Wildlife and Habitat Weekend at Sky Meadows - Each full weekend in October features live music, concessions, interpretive programs, living history demonstrations, Mount Bleak House Tours, various vendors and exhibitors, and a children's play area including a corn maze.     Breaks - Oct. 4-5, 11-12, 18-19, 25-26 - White Water Rafting at Breaks Interstate Park - Water is released annually from the John Flannagan Reservoir during the first four weekends in October to create from Class two up to Class six rapids.

    Ewing - Oct. 11 - Wilderness Road Heritage Festival - Appalachian craft-makers fill the lawn of the Karlan mansion with their wares as bluegrass music dances in the air. The always popular Children's Festival offers young ones the chance to enjoy games, crafts, activities, a clown and other entertainment.
