The Spearhead Trail - Mountain View Trail System is finally open! Get your permits and start enjoying the ride through southwest Virginia's spectacular fall foliage.

Purchase your trail permit at a variety of partner establishments in downtown Saint Paul. A trail permit allows you, the rider, to access the trails as well as drive your ATV or UTV through downtown Saint Paul, provided you avoid the four-lane highways. Find the trailhead just off 3rd Avenue at Maggie Way in Saint Paul.

Dinner, music and accommodations await you at the end of the day. Get comfortable at the Holiday Inn Norton.

    MountainRose Vineyard

    Day Two:

Enjoy a tour and free tasting at the award winning MountainRose Vineyards in Wise! A wide selection of wine is available for every taste from the first vineyard raised on land once mined for coal.

Tour historic Downtown Wise and enjoy a beautiful mountain view dinner at Reno's Roadhouse before relaxing for a campout at the Flag Rock Recreation Center or High Knob Lake in Jefferson National Forest. High Knob is the highest campground in the Clinch Ranger District at an elevation of 3,800 feet. Flag Rock sits at 2,350 feet overlooking the city of Norton. The foliage is amazing from either location.

    Day Three:

Visit the beautiful Big Stone Gap overlook and tour one of many historic museums downtown including the June Tolliver House, home to the Trail of the Lonesome Pine Outdoor Drama as well as National Historic Landmark, the Southwest Virginia Museum with overnight accommodations in the lovely Poplar Hill Cottage.
