Clarksville

The peaceful, small-town atmosphere makes Clarksville an ideal location for a sportsman’s weekend, getaway vacation, or to relocate.

Clarksville is a central gathering and staging point for dozens of fishing tournaments each year – sometimes as many as four simultaneous tournaments in a single day!

Virginia's Only Lakeside Town

Clarksville is Virginia’s only lakeside town, and offers quaint shops, both upscale and home-style cooking, hotels and even a bed and breakfast right on the shore of the 50,000 acre Kerr Lake.  A walk through the historic downtown area is a great way to spend an afternoon; and several restaurants in town even offer bars and nightlife for those looking for activities after dark.

Across the water from Clarksville is the beautiful Occoneechee State Park, which offers some great hiking and waterfront access areas, along with a marina that offers boat and kayak rentals year-round.  A few minutes up the road is the beautiful 18th century Prestwould Plantation and Grounds, which is nearly unparalleled in its level of authenticity and beauty.

On the edge of town you can play a challenging 18 holes at the Donald Ross-designed golf course at Kinderton Country Club, and a few miles south one can find the Three Sisters of Shiney Rock Winery, a truly boutique, Virginia family winery.

Clarksville is host year-round to a number of great festivals, including the famous Lakefest every July and Clarksville Wine Festival every April.
