Fauquier County is located in the Northern Virginia region bounded by the Rappahannock River on the west and the south. Interstate 66 provides a direct link to nearby Washington, D.C. Warrenton's Old Town features many quaint retail shops popular with locals and visitors alike.

Much of Fauquier County's heritage is associated with agriculture, including wineries, and steeplechase racing. Meet Virginia's version of the Napa Valley on the Blue Ridge WineWay, which includes nine wineries open for tours and tastings. The Marriott Ranch is home to some of the best mountain trail rides in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the Great Meadow Field Event Center is the site for many steeplechase races and polo matches.

Sky Meadows State Park in Fauquier County offers hiking trails with rugged terrain and pleasant camping facilities. A portion of the Appalachian Trail runs through the park, too. In Bealeton, be sure to catch the Flying Circus Airshows with vintage biplanes, wing-walkers and hot-air balloon rides.
