Mecklenburg County is located in the Southern Virginia region, known as Southside Virginia, and is bordered on the south by the North Carolina state line.
It is home to Virginia’s largest lake, Kerr Lake, which spans 50,000 acres and has 850 miles of pristine shoreline. Two other lakes, Lake Gaston and Lake Gordon, and the designated scenic blue-way Meherrin River combine to offer a broad array of recreational opportunities to help
reconnect visitors with the great outdoors. Families, couples and

the area, and Occoneechee State Park is a beautiful, modern
destination located right on the shore of Kerr Lake which offers upscale
lakefront cabins, an archery range, and even equine campgrounds. The Tobacco Heritage Trail, a new Virginia Rails to Trails project, is now partially open and constantly expanding through the county.
The towns of Boydton, Brodnax, Chase City, Clarksville, La Crosse and South Hill offer visitors an wide variety of shopping, antiquing, comfort and upscale dining, and even a few unique wineries.
Hidden historic gems such as the Boyd Tavern in Boydton, MacCallum More Gardens in Chase City, Prestwould Plantation in Clarksville, and the Colonial Theatre in South Hill are surprising finds and round out your visit.
