Montgomery County, just off the intersection of I-81 and Highway 460 was established in 1777 and was named after the American Revolutionary War general Richard Montgomery. Virginia’s story continues in this popular location for mountain bikers, hikers, and cyclists exploring the nearby Washington & Jefferson National Forests, the Transamerica Trail, and the Huckleberry Trail. The New River offers a number of different activities including kayaking, fishing, tubing, and stand up paddle boarding.
