The county of New Kent dates back to 1654 as it was created from York
County. Looking for something right off the interstate? Try New Kent Winery
& Vineyards found right off Interstate 64. The 17,000-square-foot garden
was built using parts from reclaimed buildings and a 1901 Southern Railroad
Depot from the Shockoe Bottom area of Richmond, connecting the entire state.
Come see the Vineyard and then follow the history of it to other parts of the
state to learn more! Find more sites and explore how else visited the county.
For example, St. Peter’s Church, established in 1679, is the place of Reverend
Mr. David Mossom who is known to have ordained the marriage of Col. George
Washington and his wife Martha.
The county offers Quinton Community Park with two baseball
fields, pavilion, playground, a half mile path. For a more private approach,
the Wahrani Nature Trails opened in 1973 and offer trails for mountain bikes,
walkers, bikers, and joggers. No matter where you spend your time, the wildlife
and people create an experience you won’t soon forget.
