A Wine Getaway in Northern Virginia

Find the Sweet Spot Among Virginia's Wineries

Escape to a delicious weekend of wine and indulgence.

Day 1: Arrive in the beautiful northern Shenandoah Valley to enjoy an afternoon tasting at Berryville's Veramar Vineyard, a beautiful 100-acre estate. Village Square Restaurant in historic Winchester is a great place to unwind over dinner. Or, enjoy the nightlife at Sweet Carolines! You'll be delighted with an overnight stay at the Smithfield Farm Bed & Breakfast, a 350-acre working farm in Berryville, or Old Waterstreet Inn in Winchester. Either setting affords amazing views of the Valley's beauty.

Day 2: Travel east on Route 7 into Loudoun County for some antiquing and a farm-to-table lunch at Grandale Farm Restaurant, featured by Travel + Leisure Magazine. Dedicate the afternoon to slow sipping and light fare. Right under you nose is Loudoun County Vineyards in Waterford and Dry Mill Vineyards & Winery in Leesburg. With nearly two dozen wineries in Loudoun County, perhaps there is a festival to plan your getaway around.

Continue south to Middleburg. If your travel plans happen to overlap one of Market Salamander's food and wine dinners, you're in for a real treat! If not, The French Hound offers a fabulous, authentic French menu by Leesburg-native Chef de Cuisine John-Gustin Birkitt.

Relax comfortably tonight at either Goodstone Inn & Estate or Red Fox Inn - both hugely popular, exquisite accommodations.

Day 3: After breakfast, head just a few miles south to The Plains and Fauquier County's Wine Trail. Virginia's oldest Chardonnay producer, Piedmont Vineyards, is your first stop. Enjoy the views from the patio after your tasting or saddle up for the next stop - Barrel Oak Winery in Delaplane. You'll find a sweet Chocolate Lab dessert wine awaiting your sip!
