Berryville - The Smithfield Farm Bed & Breakfast is a working cattle farm on 350 acres in the northern Shenandoah Valley. Guests can enjoy the historic buildings, "green pastures, cows and calves grazing, chickens pecking and a friendly pig in the barnyard or a goat family dozing in the midday sun." The cattle are grass-fed and not given growth hormones or antibiotics. Smithfresh meats and eggs may be purchased to take home.
Applewood Inn & Llama Trekking is perched high above Buffalo Creek for scenic views of the mountains and surrounding 900 acres of forest and meadow with miles of trails for hiking and llama treks! Elmo's Rest is a fifth-generation working farm located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains near the Peaks of Otter. Elmo's Rest offers a secluded farmhouse decorated like the swinging '40s. It's surrounded by 250 acres of apple orchards, lush pastures and shady woods. Farm animals include cattle, horses, burros, pigs, goat, sheep, chickens, turkeys and rabbits. With three ponds, visitors can fish, wade in the creek, hike deer trails and pick apples, too.

South Boston -

Windrush Farm is a working horse farm in one of the oldest villages in Virginia. Although the farm doesn't provide horses for horseback riding, visitors with their own horses can board them and ride them on the property. Bed and Breakfast at Peace Hill is an 1898 farmhouse sitting on 50 acres of working farmland. Romantic antique-filled rooms and hearty country breakfasts await visitors as well as deers feeding in the fields.
Chippokes Farm & Forestry Museum in Chippokes Plantation State Park is one of the oldest working farms in the nation. Visitors can see more than 3,000 antiques of American farm life and take self-guided tours of the plantation named for an Indian chief who befriended the early English settlers in 1619. Many displays represent various stagesof farm development throughout the years. Overnight facilities include camping and cabins at the state park.
Flint Hill -
Caledonia Farm 1812 is near Shenandoah National Park and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Scenic pastures are surrounded by stone fences, and the farmhouse has three porches for a variety of scenic views. The working cattle farm is named after the mythological name for Scotland, from where many early settlers immigrated.
Fairlea Farm B&B features a fieldstone manor house that overlooks a 40-acre cattle farm just two blocks from the little village of Washington, Va. Enjoy a country breakfast every morning and stroll on the grounds of hunt country.
Hume - The Marriott Ranch is a 4,200-acre Texas longhorn cattle ranch with a manor house, rustic pavillion and vast expanses of lawn for huge formal events and family reunions.
