Take a short getaway to the vibrant coastal city of Virginia Beach. Whether you prefer accommodations that are cozy or cosmopolitan, the city is sure to have a hotel or resort that is a perfect fit. Try Oceanaire Resort Hotel or Founders Inn and Spa.

Start your day at Citrus and indulge in a breakfast of pumpkin pancakes or a “Cape Henry” combo before taking a tour of the real Cape Henry Lighthouse. Afterwards, relax and rejuvenate at Edgar Cayce’s A.R.E. Spa with a massage treatment designed to improve your overall wellness.

That evening, sip a cocktail while and indulge in a seafood dinner at Bubba’s Seafood Restaurant and Crabhouse. The owners of Bubba’s source their seafood from their very own fleet of fishing boats, which pull right up to the dock adjacent to Bubba’s each day to unload their catch.

Day 2

Take advantage of Virginia Beach’s mild winters and explore the outdoors by taking a kayak tour of the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge to get up close and personal with wildlife in its natural habitat. Afterwards, take a stroll along the romantic, secluded beaches of Sandbridge before feasting on some of the area’s freshest seafood at Blue Pete’s in neighboring Pungo.

That evening, take in a live show at the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts before walking across the street for dinner at one of the restaurants at Virginia Beach Town Center. Follow it up with chocolate fondue for two at The Royal Chocolate

In the afternoon, stroll along Virginia Beach’s famous boardwalk and visit some of the sites along the way like the Virginia Legends Walk or the seaside Virginia Beach Amusement Park.

Experience holiday lights on the beach before dinner at James Beard-recognized Terrapin, where Chef Rodney Einhorn makes delectable dishes from farm-to-table, locally sourced ingredients, and one of the only places you can order the famous Lynnhaven Oyster.

Cap the evening with a romantic moonlit gondola cruise complete with wine, champagne and Italian music departing from Rudee’s Inlet.
