Too much stress? Need to get away? Only have one or two days to play? Enjoy a getaway to Front Royal that will put spring back into your step. This getaway is designed for folks who want to enjoy the bounty of the Shenandoah Valley but just don't have the oomph for a rigorous adventure.
After a leisurely breakfast, take a scenic drive to Front Royal, where the Skyline Drive begins. As you approach Front Royal, the spectacular views will let you know why this town is known as "Virginia's Outdoor Playground." Let the majesty of the Shenandoah National Park's overlooks and wildlife surround you.
Heading back north to Front Royal, you can round out your day with a short and easy paddle down the Shenandoah River or a casual and easy hike in the Shenandoah River Raymond R. "Andy" Guest State Park. Both are part of the Virginia Birding and Wildlife Trail. The river trail offers you an easy, level walk and great wildflower and river views. Other attractions in the area include Skyline Caverns, OasisVineyard and Rappahannock Cellars.
Visit Front Royal's historic Main Street and pick up your driving tour guide at the Front Royal-Warren County Visitor's Center. Explore this unique urban Civil War Battle site and legendary river town with its shops, antique dealers, restaurants and the Warren Rifles Confederate Museum.
