    With several holiday events highlighted on historic Harrisonburg's Main Street throughout December, you'll find plenty to do. Plus, cozy lodging, vibrant arts and music performances, and top-tier dining experiences will round out your heartwarming getaway.

    Day One:

    Wake up to the sweet smell of breakfast at one of Harrisonburg's cozy and inviting inns, like the Joshua Wilton HouseStonewall Jackson Inn, or By the Side of the Road Inn & Cottages. Then, take a short drive (or walk) to Downtown Harrisonburg's Main Street to find boutiques and shops with an assortment of options to choose from for your holiday shopping needs.

    Take a midday break and enjoy some pastries and coffee at Shank's Bakery. Have some fun making pottery or glass at You Made It, which is located in the Wine Brothers building. This is the perfect spot to create a gift for a loved one or yourself.

    Next, grab dinner at one of the many great restaurants scattered along downtown. And finally, if you're visiting on December 6, end your night with the Harrisonburg Parade & Tree Lighting Ceremony complete with carriage rides, or during the next weekend, kick off Shop 'Til You Drop Weekend by enjoying musical performances and gift wrapping at downtown stores.

    Day Two:

    Spend your morning perusing the Winter Farmer's Market in Downtown Harrisonburg. Browse and shop local foods, wines, plants, and much more.

    On December 14, dive into the holidays with Carriage Rides at the Arboretum as well as a specialty Rocktown Bites! Holiday Food Tour. Before heading to the Forbes Center for Performing Arts to end your night with a show in the captivating venue, drop in for dinner at Corgans' Publick House (where Guinness and Cottage Pie will warm you up) or Clementine Cafe. Head back for a nightcap of drinks and a warming fireplace (both Stonewall Jackson Inn B&B and Joshua Wilton have more than one fireplace).

    Day Three:

    Enjoy a warm cup of coffee or cocoa in your inn, then bundle up and head out to enjoy the Downtown Holiday Tour, which will take you to a selection of Old Town's finest homes, former warehouses, businesses, and museums intricately decorated for the holidays (December 8).

    Also on this day, enjoy a Gingerbread House Workshop at New Leaf Pastry Kitchen. If you're visiting the following weekend, Shop 'Til You Drop continues through Sunday, so make sure to drop by Main Street for more holiday shopping, arts, music, food and gift-wrapping fun!
