Virginia is located on the East Coast of the United States. It is surrounded by five states: Maryland, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky and West Virginia. To our north and just below Maryland lies our nation's capital, Washington, D.C. The Chesapeake Bay, Virginia's beaches and the Atlantic Ocean are to the east. To our west are the Appalachian and Blue Ridge Mountains.
