Front Row Fanatic Sweepstakes

Wayne Henderson - Master Luthier

A living legend, Wayne Henderson is The Crooked Road's Master Luthier - a man known for his Virginia-made guitars and mandolins. Henderson creates a treasured instrument that draws hundreds onto a waiting list - even the likes of Eric Clapton, who ordered two guitars - one for himself and one to auction for charity. The charity guitar commanded $31,200 in May 2006 at a Christies auction. It's the highest price ever paid for a guitar produced by a living American luthier.

Henderson’s guitars are indeed beautiful works of art, but they are valued and appreciated for more than that; they are known for spot-on tone and resonance. The Front Row Fanatic Sweepstakes Grand Prize Winner will receive one such instrument. The Henderson Crooked Road Series guitar was meticulously handcrafted and includes stunning mother of pearl details. Route 58, the route of The Crooked Road: Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail, as well as depictions of guitars and mandolins are inlaid on the fretboard. Expect to find “Henderson” inlaid in the headstock and in the purfling on the back. Henderson guitars are typically made of Appalachian spruce, rosewood, mahogany, and ebony.

The sweepstakes has ended.
