Virginia, Land of Many Trails

family of bikers on Virginia Creeper TrailThe first trails in Virginia were blazed by the Indians. After the English settled Jamestown in 1607, many footpaths became trails for westward-expanding settlements.

Today, Virginia is busy blazing trails that link coherent attractions, such as The Crooked Road — Virginia's Heritage Music Trail, Virginia's Birding & Wildlife Trails and the Blue Ridge WineWay, one of six Virginia Wine Trails, as well as promoting friendly hiking and biking trails like the ever-popular Virginia Creeper, where Daniel Boone often traveled.

Siege of Yorktown — 225th Anniversary

Yorktown Battlefield soldiersYorktown is the site for the 225th anniversary of the Siege of Yorktown, Oct. 19-22. Walk through British, German, Loyalist, Continental and French encampments, and experience the re-creations of the events that led to the surrender of Cornwallis on Oct. 19, 1781. What a great way to learn Colonial American History! This is a signature event heralding America's 400th Anniversary in 2007.
