The Journey Through Hallowed Ground Named Newest National Scenic Byway

Take a Scenic Drive in Virginia and See "Where America Happened"

Virginia Tourism Corporation is proud to say that the US Department of Transportation recently designated the Journey Through Hallowed Ground, a historic driving route through four states, as a National Scenic Byway. Beginning at Gettysburg, traversing through Virginia, and ending in West Virginia, the Byway meanders through a ton of historic landmarks, with many more Virginia destinations than the other states. The Virginia section includes more than 75 miles and nine counties of Virginia hillside, on and near U.S. Route 15.

The route, which generally follows the Old Carolina Road, promotes American history and culture, with numerous ways to discover the historic properties that played important roles in Virginia's past.
