Description: The Maury River formed a portion of an all-water route from the Atlantic ports of Virginia to Lexington from the late 18th to the late 19th century, primarily carrying passengers, pig iron, and agricultural products. Numerous artifacts remain along the river from the canal days including several lock and dam ruins.
