Live Passionately - Virginia is For Lovers

Gloucester

Gloucester is located in Gloucester County in the Chesapeake Bay region of Virginia.  The town was formed in 1651 from York County soon after the settlement of Jamestown.

Visit Rosewell Ruins, one of colonial America’s greatest mansions and once the centerpiece of a 3000-acre plantation. Chimneys, a wall, and vaulted cellar are all that remain after a 1916 fire. The ruins allow visitors to inspect its 18th-century brickwork in ways that no intact building can allow.

The Driving Tour of African-American Historic Sites takes you through the past few hundred years of Gloucester's history and shows how African-American presence since the settlement of Jamestown significantly influenced the county’s development and culture.

With 635-acres of the only public freshwater fishing on the Middle Penninsula, Beaverdam Park is the place to fish. Boats and canoes are available for rental. Take a hike on the beautiful nature trail or exercise trail, or relax while you fish on the water.
