Norton

On the Trail of the Lonesome Pine

Norton is a city in Wise County in the Heart of Appalachia region of Virginia. It has numerous parks, including the Flag Park Recreation Area. From the City of Norton, Flag Rock can be seen as a rock outcrop capped with an American Flag, thus the name "Flag Rock". The recreation site sits over 1,000 feet above the City's elevation of 2,350 ft.

The city is home to one of eight major venues along The Crooked Road, Virginia's Heritage Music Trail, the Country Cabin and its Appalachian Traditions Village. It is also home to the Virgina-Kentucky Opry, a 241-seat theater featuring musical talent performing live radio broadcasts every Saturday night.
