Winchester is located at the northernmost tip in the Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia.
With Shenandoah University, it is the artistic hub of the region with concerts, plays, operas and other cultural events throughout the year. The famous Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival takes place in Winchester every May, and people from around the world attend this event.
Hikers can access the Appalachian Trail from Winchester. Other attractions for outdoor enthustiasts include nearby George Washingto National Forest, the Blue Ridge and Skyline Drive, some of the most beautiful country in the world!
History buffs will enjoy visiting the office of George Washington while he supervised the construction of Fort Loudoun and the Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum. The spectacular Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, which opened in April 2005, tells the story of the art, history, and culture of the great valley for which it is named.
Winchester is the birthplace of country legend, Patsy Cline, too!
