Montgomery County, Virginia:

Montgomery County is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is the home to Virginia's largest nationally ranked university, Virginia Tech as well as Radford University, one of the top public universities in the south. Between the two universities, visitors can find a wide array of cultural events throughout the year, including the New River Valley Symphony.

More than 19,000 acres of the Jefferson National Forest are located in Montgomery County, providing easy access to hiking, camping, hunting, fishing, picnicking and wildlife watching. The New River, on the county's western border, is a state scenic river and excellent for fishing, canoeing, swimming and tubing. A portion of the Appalachian Trial is in the county, too.

Virginia Tech has been drawing football fans to its campus with its nationally ranked team every year. Adjacent to the campus is the historic Smithfield Plantation.
