Scott County

We're a Natural

Scott County sits within the Appalachian Valley in the Heart of Appalachia region of Virginia. It is located on the Tennessee state line.

The county is surrounded by an abundance of scenic natural beauty. Five mountain ridges cut across the county. Visitors can enjoy a variety of recreational activities, such as hiking and picniking in Jefferson National Forest as well as Natural Tunnel State Park, one of the regions leading attractions. A chair lift gives visitors a unique aerial opportunity to view the splendor of the tunnel and surrounding scenery.

Scott County is one of the major sites along The Crooked Road: Virginia's Heritage Music Trail, and The Carter Family Fold in Hiltons is a popular place to be on Saturday nights for its bluegrass and country performers. It also serves as a living memorial to the original Carter family - A.P., Sara and Maybelle - considered "The First Family of Country Music."
