Spotsylvania County

Spotsylvania County is in the Northern Virginia region of Virginia, midway between the state capital at Richmond and the nation's capital in Washington, D.C. It is bordered on the north by the Rappahannock River.

Fredericksburg is the largest city in Spotsylvania County and offers 200 years of history, including four Civil War battlefield parks, such as Spotsylvania Courthouse Battlefield and the Chancellor Battlefield operated by the National Park Service. Be sure to see Civil War Life, the Soldiers Museum, which tells the story of the soldiers who served on both sides of the War Between the States.

The county is home to Lake Anna State Park, located on one of Virginia's largest lakes and offers outstanding fishing boating, hiking and picnicking. The Rappahannock River is ideal for canoeing and rafting. Portions of the river near the fall line at Fredericksburg is whitewater.
