Wilton House Museum

Built in 1753 for the family of William Randolph III, Wilton was originally the center of a 2,000 acre self-sufficent tobacco plantation on the banks of the James River in Varina. Moved and restored by The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in the Commonwealth of Virginia, Wilton House Museum is accredited by the American Association of Museums(AAM). Wilton is home to a rich collection of 18th and early 19th century furnishings, portraits, silver, ceramics, and textiles. Visitors to the house included George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and the Marquis de Lafayette. The museum is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday. Adult, student, and youth group tours are also available. Call us for hours and admission rates.
