Wintergreen Performing Arts is a not-for-profit music organization located in Nelson County's Blue Ridge Mountains bringing a year-round program of education and entertainment to Central Virginia. The centerpiece of the program is the Wintergreen Summer Music Festival held in 2009 from July 5 to August 1 at Wintergreen Resort and featuring orchestra and chamber concerts, lectures, live theater, and film. The theme for 2009 is "Vienna" celebrating the rich musical heritage of the city that might justifiably be called the heart of classical music. Other events include the 5th Annual Blue Ridge Mountain Music Fest, wine festivals and an Oktoberfest. Major concerts take place in the Evans Center located on the cool mountain at Wintergreen.
