Welcome to Emporia and the Virginia Peanut Festival. Celebrate the Virginia Peanut, farmers and the fall harvesting season in southeastern Virginia. Carnival with rides, games and food runs Thursday through Sunday. Veterans Memorial Park opens Friday at 6 p.m. Family fun event with food, crafts and music featuring a well known band. On Saturday the parade starts at 11 a.m. with several marching bands. Spectacular Car Show at noon. Afternoon entertainment includes blue grass music,cloggers, arts, crafts, children's games, pony rides, civil war exhibit, educational exhibits, antique farm equipment. Farm Tours. Live music until 11 p.m. Gigantic fireworks display at 9 p.m. For sale The Virginia Peanut Festival Cookbook, with recipes from local cooks and Treasures of Virginia.
