The Highland Maple Festival celebrates the Highland County tradition of maple syrup-making. Designated a "Local Legacy” by The Library of Congress, this festival of more than 50 years, attracts upwards of 50,000 visitors from across the states. Sugar camp tours provide a unique and educational glimpse of a rapidly vanishing way of rural American life. Highlands of the festival include buckwheat and pancake breakfasts, maple donuts, locally harvested trout dinners, antiques, arts and crafts, bluegrass music and clogging demonstrations.
