Locality: Amherst County American Indian festival Rt 130, 6 miles west of Hwy 29 Elon, VA The 19th Annual Monacan powwow includes the finest Native arts and crafts from US and Canada for sale, dancing and drumming, storytelling, plenty to eat, and a unique sense of community in the foothills of Amherst County. Birds of prey including hawks, eagles and owls on exhibit. Grounds open daily at 10 AM. Saturday grounds close at 9 PM following dancing around the bonfire. Sunday grounds close at 6 PM. Route 130, 6 miles west of State Highway 29, in Elon, Virginia. Come rain or shine, and bring your lawnchairs. This is a family event; no drugs, alcohol or pets permitted.
