Great gift shops can also be found at Virginia’s State Parks. The stores offer a changing assortment of natural toys, and are home to the cuddly Baxter the Bear whose shirt that says “I can’t bear to leave State Parks!”

Many state parks sponsor special holiday events and interpretive programs, too, such as the Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park Annual Festival of Trees, which includes more than 80 decorated trees.

The Historic Crab Orchard Museum gift shop in Tazewell is full of delightful toys produced in the Heart of Appalachia. "Little Scrappy Annie" dolls by artist Ica Smith delight doll lovers, young and old. Popguns, slingshots and wooden ball-and-cup toys, unique wooden puzzles and plenty of toys from $1-$5 make this a favorite place to shop for stocking stuffers and party favors.

Northern Virginia

Virginia’s living museums also have a lot to offer for the holiday season. For presents with a historic touch, stop by the Claude Moore Colonial Farm in Fairfax County, the only privately operated national park in the United States.
