The Guide to Virginia's Civil War, a tabloid newspaper, offers descriptions of all the Virginia Civil War Trails sites plus a comprehensive calendar of Civil War-related events. Each of three annual editions also includes feature stories and news updates.
New issues of The Guide to Virginia's Civil War are printed in early February, Memorial Day and Labor Day.
Virginia Civil War Trail's state map is your guide to exploring 388 sites in Virginia associated with our nation's greatest drama. Ten breathtaking trails - each marked by the distinctive "bugle-logo" signs - lead travelers through the historic Virginia countryside for a first-hand encounter with the people and places of America’s past:
- 1862 Peninsula Campaign
- Shenandoah Valley - Avenue of Invasion
- 1861-65 Northern Virginia
- 1864 Lee vs. Grant
- 1865 Lee’s Retreat
Many sites along the trail are accessible to the public for the first time, and each encourages you to park the car and "leave the present behind!" Download a PDF of the Civil War Trails Map
