    Day One:

Spend the weekend in historic Abingdon, just west of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the town with charming brick-lined sidewalks and historic buildings. Check in to one of our hotels, B&B’s, cottages or inns for cozy accommodations.

After you drop your bags, it is time for you to enjoy a delicious dinner at The Martha Washington Hotel and Spa. The Martha will be decorated beautifully for the holidays and is the perfect place to kick start the holiday spirit. After dinner, take your seat at the Barter Theatre, famous for launching the careers of Gregory Peck, Ernest Borgnine and Patricia Neal to enjoy a heartwarming holiday show.

    Day Two:

Start your day off right with a big breakfast at Babycakes Cupcakery, where you can choose which cupcake batter you would like your waffle made from. Then take a stroll up Main Street to do some retail therapy in our historic downtown shops. Experience Holston Mountain Artisans Cooperative, one of the oldest craft cooperatives in the U.S. offering a wide selection of finely made gift items. Visit the unique Abingdon Olive Oil Company tasting gallery, offering 52 flavors.

Enjoy a farm-to-table meal for lunch at one of our great locally owned restaurants. Tour the historic Fields-Penn House and step back in time at this beautifully restored house museum where history comes alive and depicts the life of a prosperous family just prior to the Civil War. Each room is decorated for the holidays by different civic organizations. Vote for your favorite by bringing non-perishable can goods or pet food that is donated to the local food bank.

Stop in to our local brewery, Wolf Hills, to sample the holiday brews that will be on tap and check out some local music. Dinner follows at the Abingdon Tavern, built in 1779, the oldest of Abingdon's historic buildings that served as a hospital for wounded Confederate and Union soldiers during the Civil War.

Travel just twenty minutes to where the roar of the engines is replaced with the twinkling of two million lights along Bristol Motor Speedway's holiday celebration, Speedway in Lights
