Virginia State Parks are consistently rated the best in the nation. 2016 marks the 80th year since Virginia’s state parks opened, and they’ve been the backdrop for perfect family vacations ever since. Families find Virginia’s 36 state parks as diverse as the state itself, with parks found along the Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay, on historic sites, in the Blue Ridge Mountains and just outside of major cities. The parks have thousands of campsites, hundreds of cabins, more than 600 miles of trails and convenient access to Virginia's major waterways.
