Rooster Hill Bed & Breakfast
Charlottesville, VA
Virginia Green is the Commonwealth of Virginia’s campaign to promote environmentally-friendly practices in all aspects of Virginia’s tourism industry. Virginia Green has established "core activities" specific to each sector of tourism, and these practices are considered the required minimum for participation in the program. However, Virginia Green encourages its participants to reduce their environmental impacts in all aspects of their operations, and this profile provides a full list of all their “green” activities. These are the activities that guests / customers can expect to find when they visit this facility.
Rooster Hill Bed & Breakfast
We are a bed and breakfast in a private home which was built to minimize required heating and cooling and the use of non-renewable resources. The house is sited for natural windbreaks in winter and tree shading on the south side in summer. We compost all food scrapes and utilize chickens as a means of disposing of organic materials and producing eggs.
We believe in reusing, repurposing and recycling in the operation of our home and our B & B.
We enjoy sharing with our guests the ideas incorporated in the design of our house and B & B rooms that employ concepts of recycling and minimizing waste.
